The International Karate Shotokan/Kokusai Karate Shotokan (IKS) was officially established in Japan on April 15th. IKS is my personal group within (and fully cooperating with) IJKA. Its purpose is to study the finer points of IJKA Asai-ha Shotokan-ryu, without politically suffocating members.International Karate Shotokan is not only open to IJKA members but also all traditional karate groups who are keen to intensively study Asai style Shotokan. One key point that differentiates IKS even to the IJKA is that members can access a large number of rare kata and applications which Asai Sensei personally taught me. IKS is therefore a special Shoto "house" within the IJKA and is not for everyone.
