I often get asked by karateka from all over the world: "How can I become a worldclass karateka?" The answer, besides seeking high-level tuition and high-quality daily training, is DOING HOMEWORK. That is, practicing what you've learned and/or refining in dōjō training.
Many people who have senior Dan grades now, and hold high positions in major karate organizations, have low-level karate.
Their attachment to organizations, rank, title and power, means nothing in Karate-Dō. What makes one's karate real is their skill. which is twofold: BOTH TECHNICALLY EXCELLENT AND HIGHLY EFFECTIVE.
To conclude, aim to TALK WITH YOUR KARATE. Do your homework and see through the smoke and mirrors! Become the best you can be, and let the karate politicians live in their self-deceit.
TRAIN, TRAIN and TRAIN MORE... Your karate will talk for you. Be the best you can be.
